Installing an EV charger at home in Australia typically costs between $800 and $3,000, depending on the charger type and complexity of installation. The three most common chargers we install are: Zappi, Tesla and Ohme.
The main factors that impact installation cost, is the distance of the cable run, the charger selected and whether its single or three phase.
Other factors include the building types, for example, single or double story, tin roof or tile roof and weatherboard or brick homes. EV chargers require larger cables than most other appliances and they can be tricky to run in some building types where access is limited.

The most common charger type is the single phase type 2 charger. These chargers use 7.4kw or 32 amps. This effectively gives you 40kms of range for every hour of charge. For the average person, this is usually more than enough to cover their daily commute.
Homes that are equipped with 3 phase power have the option to install 3 phase chargers. It's important to keep in mind that not every car can charge at a full 22kw. Most cars limit their charging to 11kw or 16 amps per phase. This gives you about 60kms of range per hour of charge.
AC chargers are the most common type used in residential applications. They are more affordable and use less power. They are also better for you electric vehicles battery health in the long term.
DC chargers are more commonly used in commercial applications as they usually have the capacity to handle the power draw. Whilst DC chargers are convenient and fast, they do put more strain on your EV battery.
Tethered chargers are the most common type that we install, however untethered chargers can be a great choice in some cases. Without a fixed cable hanging from the unit, the setup looks cleaner, neater, and more discreet against your property.
There’s less visual clutter and nothing to wind up or hang awkwardly when not in use.
They’re also less likely to be damaged or stolen, especially in exposed or shared environments like driveways, carports, or apartment blocks. You simply use your own charging cable when needed, then take it with you — keeping the unit itself secure and tidy.
Customers compliment our team's professionalism and attention to detail, as well as our quick and effective electrical repairs. They also commend our expertise in handling electrical uncertainties and ensuring optimal functionality. See it for yourself.
